Lou Reed; Call On Me
... Caught in the cross bow of ideas and journeys ... Stand I. Self Reflecting on challenges of life. The begin steps from passive life to active will up the 7 story mountain
The song is great example of song with two narrators with the second narrator pleading in faith hope and love .... Why didn't you call on me

The Cure; Pictures Of You
A literal intepretation would put this in purgatory, AntePurgatory:The indolent. The Object of love would be earthly, passive and the subject doesn't have the power to turn it into active love.

Jason Derulo; Ridin Solo
This song becomes difficult to to rate. It sits between an excessive love of secondary good(his previous relationship) and some other state which is not mentioned. The fact that this is a backslide from the Puragtaory the lustful. shows that he could not have made it to this level. There are no backslides in purgatory.
He is remorseful...I am sorry that it didn't work out
I know it is purgatory, because it has hope...better days are going to get better.
But he is going solo which is more of a regrouping. Indolent

Flaming Lips; Fight Test
The song starts out well
The narrator is showing temperance in will... thought it better not to fight/thought there was a virtue in always being cool
The narrator is showing prudence in understanding the limits of his intellect... I don't know where the sun beams end/And the startlights begin/Its all a mystery
Here is the fall
Be lacks judgement in his own will ... I don't know how a man decides what right for his own life/its all a mystery
then he regrets and lacks fortitude ....I should have fought him\but instead i let him/I let him take you

Lady GaGa; Alejandro
Passive Love, not yet attained. one degree even before passive love, because a single object of affection has not been selected... the hope is that she "...has a halo around her finger around you". She does feel some guilt or a sense of self-blame or shame which show the beginning of caring about community, or others. On the road to repairing the communial psyche.

Taio Cruz; Break Your Heart
He is up front about his flaw. He is taking ownship of his flaw. (note people in Dante's hell never admit they are wrong or the cause of there own situation). He is warning her. He is not mis-leading. He might tear her apart. Which has hope (might), but again he is not misleading or selling it as a virtue. He is at best delaying it. Delaying the work he needs to do.

The Velvet Underground; Sunday Morning
The lyrics have the remorsefulness of the late repentant. The nararator is cast in an over-indulgent fog set on by the previous night, but this is balanced with a hopeful "praise" of the morning and the dawn. In some sense there is an over indulgance in community and there is a hope that "There's always someone around you who will call"
